Looking Back, Looking Forward

Modern classic. As a recovering all-black-wearing woman, I don’t allow myself to purchase anything black unless the item has irresistible details. Today’s outfit features one of those exceptions. It is a classic shift dress with updated features like puff sleeves, and a buttoned down front. The greatest thing about this dress is that it is tailored in a black embroidered eyelet—a chic floral cutout—over a white silky liner. A patent belt and red peep-toe pumps add finishing touches. Now, I am ready for a dinner on Friday night.

This dress was somewhat pricey for Marshalls at $79.99. But, it has a retail price of $348, and I love it!

I WANT THAT DRESS!!! I am going to Marshall’s today. It is fantastic. You are my idol. $79.99 for that dress?

La Belette Rouge: Good luck! I just bought it on Monday, and my store had about 4 of them. Isn’t that price unbelievable?

I am hardly a fan of Paris Hilton, but she has been spotted in the sleeveless version of this dress.

I don’t think I could have left it in the Marshall’s either. That dress is gorgeous…gorgeous…gorgeous. I really like it!!! WOW!

    Really, what an amazing dress.
    Elegante and stylish.
The final touch given by the belt and red shoes completes the whole outfit. Great.

Sara: Right! And somehow I managed to do just that. When I could not stop thinking about it (sick, right?), I went back, and luckily it was still there!

Seeker: Thanks. I don’t know how I ever dressed without belts before. This dress looks much better with the belt. Hmmm…perhaps I should have shown the unbelted look.

Oh that Girl: LOL! I hope you find it. This could work for the wedding you are attending. The silky/satiny underlay makes the dress fancier than the typical eyelet.

Capis: Gotta love Marshalls! There are a couple Calvin Klein numbers that I’ve spotted too, but not in my size. So, I am officially on the prowl.

Kira Fashion: Tahari sure knows what I like. And, Marshalls delivers it. Yeah!

OMG, I love this dress. It reminds me of the Philip Lim one that I wanted so bad but couldn’t afford.

  12. June 12, 2008 / 1:29 am

Always in Style: You know, I think I know the Philip Lim dress you are talking about. It had the same buttoned down front and was eyelet. I remember it in white though. Finds like this Tahari dress make me love Marshalls even more. Thanks for stopping by!

Chic Stylez: Awwww thanks! I appreciate that a lot. I am especially excited to learn that you are in St. Louis. We have much to discuss about our local shopping experiences.

I adore that dress! Perfect modern classic- you’ll be able to wear it for years.

  22. June 12, 2008 / 7:54 pm

Fresh & Fab: Thanks! I was a tad uncertain about the shape of the dress until I belted it at home. The belt makes such a difference. I don’t know what I was doing before I started wearing belts in this way.

Budget Babe: I appreciate you stopping by. You’re right. The flash caught the underlay really well. It is boldly peeping through the eyelet.

Melinda Melee: That is surely what I told myself–I’ve got to wear this to reduce the cost/wear ratio 馃檪 This dress is so classic and chic that it will be easy. Thanks for coming by!
