To the Market in Style

Sigh. Stuck in the Midwest I was not able to get my hands on the sought after Anya Hindmarch “I’m not a plastic bag”. However, inspired by the idea of making it fashionable to forego using plastic bags, I decided to search for an alternative. I found ‘it’ in the Michael Kors medium canvas tote. This bag is khaki with screen print “MK” in brown and dark green (Go Green!). It features a top snap closure along with side snaps to expand or reduce the size of the bag. The wide straps fit snuggly over the shoulder and the bag tucks comfortably under the arm making it the perfect shopper. I have not used plastic bags since.

Right on Target?

Surprise surprise! So Isaac Mizrahi really hits the mark with these oh-so-stylish leather pumps. This pair features an exotic black with a classic yet very of-the-moment snake skin pattern. The best thing about these pumps though is that Isaac did not compromise comfort for style. With a 3.25″ heel, and cushioned insoles, they surprisingly provide all-day comfort.

The vintage inspired shift dress with the feminine ruffle detail, also Isaac Mizrahi for Target, initially caught my eye. But when I tried it on at home, I could not reconcile the poor fit around my hips. I typically love Isaac’s work; I just wish his designs loved my body type. But I am sure I will give him more chances to woo me in the future.

Summer Time Cool

Ok, true. It’s not cold outside, so it may seem illogical to sport a scarf. But, a summer scarf proves to be a cool accessory even on the warmest of days. The trick is to keep it as sheer, thin, and lightweight as possible. And this Italian made, blue multi-striped, linen RO.SE.DA scarf is just right. It transforms this basic barely-there camisole and white eyelet skirt into Hollywood glam.

Looking Back, Looking Forward

It’s time; time to take stock. Wednesday, the middle of the work week, is the perfect day to stop, and take a moment to look back and look forward. Wednesdays will be dedicated to featuring a vintage or modern classic piece from my collection.

Today’s feature is a vintage Marina Rinaldi bag. This hard leather bag was handed down to me by a family member. A rich, cinnamon brown, the refined and structured shape is similar to the Hermes Kelly bag. The top handle ensures that this bag will be carried– prominently and visible—and thus taking a central role in the overall look of any outfit. The bag also features a concealable chain interwoven with leather, which adds an elegant finishing touch, and gives the option to carry it over your shoulder.

Tank Top Chic

So yes. Some might say I am just wearing a green “wife beater.” But wait; look again. This green tank top is elevated to summer chic status when paired with a brown, flared, eyelet skirt. The single strand of Shango beads, tri-color AK bangle watch, gold Me Too sandals, and striking two-tone leather Antonio Melani bag seal the deal.
