“Smells Like Couture”

True story. I have been virtually stalking these hardware flats since their sister shoe, the suede “envy,” appeared in the September ’07 issue of Lucky. Not willing to pay the retail price for another pair of flats, I tried to appease my desires with a low-budget alternative (see AK double ring flats here). The terribly uncomfortable alternative fell short. I mean, if a shoe is going to hurt, it better have a 5 inch heel.
Nine months later, on a routine trip to one of my usual shopping spots, I caught a glimpse of a display filled with Juicy shoes and at prices 56% lower than retail. Could my shoe be there? Yes!
The patent leather flat has a perforated heart pattern, gold interlocking circles on the vamp, and a gold accent trim on the .75” heel. And, after a test run, I am happy to report that they meet my comfort standards.

P.S. If these flats tickle your fancy, smartbargains has them at the same price and in three colors–red, yellow, and black.

Repeat Offender?

Again and again. This casual Friday outfit features a dress that I wear a lot (see here and here). The purple soft knit dress has essentially become my tee-shirt and jeans alternative. The dress has an empire waist, puff sleeves, and a plunging v-neck that is covered with a plaid scarf in today’s look. Black patent leather flats with a standout gold tone buckle complete the outfit.
Have a fabulous weekend!

Summer Suited Pt. 2

Back in uniform. I was not kidding when I said I wear shorts to work a lot during the summer. Gosh, do you remember when wearing shorts to the office was risqué? I wonder if next summer I will be comfortable wearing short shorts to work? Anyway, today’s outfit features brown knee-length shorts. The pants are topped off by a fresh and cool plaid jacket layered over a tan camisole. Patent leather orange t-strap wedges finish the look.

Looking Back, Looking Forward

Modern classic. As a recovering all-black-wearing woman, I don’t allow myself to purchase anything black unless the item has irresistible details. Today’s outfit features one of those exceptions. It is a classic shift dress with updated features like puff sleeves, and a buttoned down front. The greatest thing about this dress is that it is tailored in a black embroidered eyelet—a chic floral cutout—over a white silky liner. A patent belt and red peep-toe pumps add finishing touches. Now, I am ready for a dinner on Friday night.

This dress was somewhat pricey for Marshalls at $79.99. But, it has a retail price of $348, and I love it!

Stylishly Cool

Heat wave. It can be hard to stay cool in the summer without dressing like you are heading to the beach. But, knee-length shorts are my refuge. This summer work look features black straight leg shorts paired with a white cami and a yellow three-quarter sleeve cardigan. A zebra stripe skinny belt ties the look together. Red peep-toe pumps complete the outfit.
