A Fashion Revival

Houndstooth is back. And, it is badder than ever, from the small broken checks to the big checks. This houndstooth, silk/cotton blend, flared skirt provides the ideal foundation for this work outfit. It is paired with a satiny blue silk camisole with delicate lace trimming and a silhouette-enhancing black cardigan. Navy patent flats with a glitzy golden double ring adornment finish the look.

In the Fashion Flow

Silky soft. It’s hard to go wrong with this silky soft matte jersey dress. With a black and ecru polka dot print, flowing bell sleeves, and the option to tie a black self-belt around the hips, the dress emanates vintage glam. It is paired with black cap-toe pumps, and a green leather bag.

So glad about plaid. This jacket is a checkered sensation with its delightful union of blues, grey, and purple. It is short with short sleeves and has a two-button closure. It adds some zest to a white tube and dark long and lean jeans. The look is completed by navy and white, soft-tumbled, standout, leather loafers, and a navy doctor style handbag.

Check It Out

So everyone is mad about plaid this fall. And, I am glad for I can pull out this Calvin Klein jacket that I snagged over a year ago when Lord & Taylor was going out of business in St. Louis. It has a fresh color combination—splashes of orange and gold—despite its neutral base. The jacket has three-quarter sleeves, two front flap pockets, and a single button closure. It is paired with brown shorts, a yellow tee, burnt orange peep-toe flats, and a tan bag.

Looking Back, Looking Forward

Enduring charm. This week’s feature is the Michael Kors Ashbury E/W satchel. Since its entree, this bag has stood in the shadow of the ever-popular MK large Astor satchel. The Ashbury satchel, however, may win the long-run battle because of its finesse.

It has silvertone studs, but only in concentration around the front zippered pocket and the sides thereby softening the motorcycle-inspired style apparent in the Astor satchel. Buttery soft leather in MK’s signature “luggage” color, tasseled leather zipper pulls, and double straps with a striking whip stitching make this bag a modern classic.
