Florals might usually be the go-to print for spring, but this year, polka dots are vying for that top spot (pun intended). Dots were prominent in most major spring collections. From supersized dots to abstract dots to dressy dots, this year’s polka dots trend brings a host of creative ways to wear the print.
To demonstrate just how versatile polka dots can be, I’m reaching for two of my favorite polka dot items. My sheer polka dot blouse (seen before here) and my polka dot pants (seen before here) each serve well as the star of any look. When worn together though? Their different-sized dots make magic because they perfectly play with scope.
I purchased the sheer dot blouse in the Nordstrom anniversary sale last year. The combination of retro dots on a sheer blouse really appealed to me. I envisioned styling and restyling the blouse. And, I’ve just done that (see here and here).
I found the pants recently in TJ Maxx. It’s been ages since I’ve shopped my old favorite off-price store. But, I’m glad I stumbled into a store because these pants were on clearance for $10. If you have the time and patience, there are some gems hidden in the clearance racks of some of our favorite stores right now.
I firmly believe in getting as much use out of what’s in my closet. So, I challenged myself to make these standout dot items look different in new outfits. I didn’t know at the time that would mean wearing them together. But, I tried it, and it worked.
