I was quite fond of the duster cardigan and kimono jacket trend last fall. I wasn’t fortunate enough, however, to find a style that moved me to purchase. That may have been luck, though, because it forced me to get creative with what I already own. Remember how I wore a wrap dress as a duster cardigan? Today, I’m refashioning my robe as one.

This robe was a gift from my mom years ago. I’ve worn it on the blog before (here and here). I’ve always felt, however, that the stunning print rendered this robe too fly to only wear at home. So, this past weekend, when it was chilly enough to need a light layer, I reached for my robe. And, it was a perfect, jazzy finishing touch.
The wonderful thing about the right duster cardigan is it can add pizazz to even the most basic outfits. For brunch on Sunday, my robe elevated a white rib-knit tank and black leggings to new style heights.
I wore my J.Crew Elsie d’Orsay pumps in flame to tease one of the colors in the robe. I kept the rest of my accessories simple. My new Linea Pelle Whitley Mini Speedy Bag was the perfect neutral hue to support the overall look. My J.Crew Swinging Ball earrings added just enough gold.

I don’t think I own anything that bold as lounge-wear. Again what a creative way to wear your robe as a long duster. It’s a beautiful print. Your mom did an excellent job choosing this piece.
