Street art inspires street style. I’m currently in outfit planning mode because I’m attending the St. Louis leg of Beyonce’s Formation tour this Saturday. This will be my first time seeing the Queen Bey in concert. So, naturally, I’m trying to decide what to wear. I have a few looks planned that draw inspiration from Beyonce videos. Today’s street style look, though, was inspired by street art right here in the Lou.
Yesterday, I shared my new favorite artsy murals along the St. Louis Flood Wall. If you haven’t seen them, do check out my Paint Louis 2016 post. These works of art that change every year during the Paint Louis event have been inspiring my style and blog posts for years.
What I’m Wearing:
Tube top | Gingham Shirt | Denim Culottes | Choker (similar) | Earrings (on sale) | Ankle Boots
Lip: Mac “Rebel” lipstick and Mac “Currant” lip pencil
The artsy backdrop in today’s post is undoubtedly my favorite design from this year’s Paint Louis event. When I saw the completed wall, I knew immediately that I wanted to photograph this look in front of it.
I knew I wanted neutral hues that didn’t compete with the striking colors in the mural. I also knew that I wanted a pop of color in a rich wine or burgundy hue to create a harmonious connection with the wall. And, these affordable Halogen ankle boots were that perfect pop of color. For 4 inch booties, they’re surprisingly comfortable too. They’re also true to size. I’m wearing them in my usual size 8.
We might be inching closer to fall, but St. Louis is still hot like hell. So, the finished look is channeling both summer and fall style.

I agree–this wall is stunning and THOSE BOOTIES. Extra points for pattern mixing like a pro, as always, and your hair looks fierce. Have fun at the concert!
