My Perfect Fit: A Maryam Garba African Print Skirt

When Maryam Garba told me recently that she had started offering custom African print clothing, I did a happy dance. You see, statement skirts are all the rage this summer, and I’ve been exploring options for having a statement-making, African print skirt made for me. You may remember Maryam Garba, the Chicago-based designer behind my stunning, floor-sweeping Geraldine wrap dress. Given my experiences with the brand, I was confident that Maryam’s custom pieces would be made to perfection. And, boy was I right.

With just three measurements—my hip, waist, and desired length—and a quick selection of fabric, Maryam Garba placed my custom skirt order. About a couple weeks later, my perfect-for-summer skirt arrived at my door.

My custom skirt has all the luxurious details of my other Maryam Garba pieces. The stitching is impeccable. The back zipper looks luxe. It’s clear that my skirt was made with love.

You already know that I don’t waste any time when it comes to wearing my new pieces. My skirt arrived just in time for the holiday weekend, and I’ve already worn it. I paired the skirt with a soft tee in a complementary color. I draped the tee to one side to give it a fun cold shoulder look.

The skirt looks really good on you. Nice colour and nice shape. I like the way you pulled your shirt on one side 😉
