I grew up in St. Kitts where it’s quite common for local artisans to use unconventional materials when creating accessories. I got to see talented hands convert the hard shells of fruits into handbags and earrings and pendants. I owned a cross-body coconut shell bag at one time. Man…I really wish I could get my hands on that bag right now because it would be right on trend for summer. Attention-grabbing textures have dominated summer trends for several seasons. This summer, wood accessories are all the rave, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Wood has such a striking large grain and fine grain pattern that would excite any print lover. The Zebra wood used in the sunglasses (on mega sale) in today’s featured look, for example, has a stunning and natural pattern to it.
I’m looking forward to seeing all the items that hit the market due to the wood accessories trend. My wardrobe is already in good shape for the trend though. I have my wood watch by Jord that I especially love wearing in the summer. My soft corded wood statement necklace by Berry Brand is always a perfect finishing touch to my summer style as well.
