I was offered the opportunity to preview the fall collection by Venus, and after the amazing summer finds I got there, I couldn’t wait. Remember that printed halter dress? It was such a hit. Many of you let me know that you purchased that dress too. This time around, I found the perfect wear-now-wear-later pieces at Venus.

I’ve been on the hunt for a vest to give a cool nod to 70s style. This black, open front vest by Venus instantly won me over. It’s only $39. When I look at it, I see unlimited styling possibilities. For today’s look, I’m wearing it with a drapey white tank (on sale, $12) and a pair of black, slimming jeggings, also by Venus. To cement the 70s flavor in the look, I wore a wool fedora.

I planned to wear this look to celebrate the Redbook cover with my girlfriends last night. It was so hot, though, I ended up changing the pants to my tie-front shorts. Talking about Redbook, I submitted a similar outfit for consideration in the Real Women Style Awards. It’s quite fitting that I’m wearing a version of that look today because I talk a bit about having style uniforms in the current issue of Redbook. I can’t wait for you all to read the issue when it hits newsstands tomorrow.

My exploration of ghost signs in St. Louis continues today. I’ve been driving by this Falstaff painted ad for a few weeks. I thought it would be an ideal backdrop to my 70s-inspired look. Falstaff beer, no longer in production, dates back to 1870 according to the sign.

Now, it’s your turn. Enter for a chance to win a $100 gift card to shop your wardrobe must-haves at Venus.

Ah, youth! You look great, my dear, but this is not a 70s look at all! It's early 90s. It's true that our version included short-sleeved tees, vintage thrifted menswear vests, black jeans instead of leggings, and granny boots instead of pumps, but yours is an update on it. I still have the black straw porkpie I bought in 1989 that went with all that. 🙂

Cute look…I have lots of curves…I don't think this look would do well on me but it looks nice on you.
