This month, I’ve been participating in Alive magazine’s #31DaysOfMovement, a month-long pledge to improved health and fitness in July. Since the end of July is near, I thought I’d share some of the things I’ve been doing to keep it moving during the month. From getting an accountability partner to trying new things, I’ve never been more excited to work it out during the summer.
1. Partner Up
Team work makes the dream work, right? Knowing that I have a friend waiting at the gym for me, is often the extra encouragement I need to get out of bed on those mornings when it is difficult to do so. Partner workouts are also fun.

2. Add Resistance
There was a time when Zumba was the only routine that would get me into a gym. After several years of doing it, though, I plateaued. Adding resistance to my workouts was just the shock my body needed.

3. Take it Outside
I love being outside and hope to soak up every moment of sunshine this summer. So, I take some of my workouts to the great outdoors. From running stairs to riding a bike, burning calories never felt so good.
4. Try Something New
Since overcoming the intimidation of weight training, I feel like I can conquer anything. From yoga to various types of group fitness classes, I’ve been trying new things. Rock Climbing and CrossFit are next on my list this summer.
