Black and White for Date Night

Last Fall, I was drawn to the Anthropologie striped and pleated skirt when I first saw it online.  It’s a pull-on style, full and flirty skirt, my favorite skirt style.  The only detail that concerned me about this skirt was its barely-there length.

At an original price of $148, I put the striped skirt on my watch-and-wait-for-markdowns list.  Eventually, the price started falling, but negative reviews started pouring in as well.  Still, I decided to keep the skirt on a watch-and-wait list.  Recently, when the price fell to $19.99 (plus an additional 30% off), I decided to make a move and ordered it online.

I agree with reviewers.  The skirt is scandalously short.  It’s also unlined and hence somewhat sheer.  So, why did I keep it?  During the winter, I could wear it with opaque tights and feel comfortable.  During the summer, I could wear it on the beach, the perfect place for scandalous attire.  In addition, since the price I paid was so low, returning it and absorbing the cost of shipping felt like a bigger loss.

This past Saturday, I wore the skirt out on a date night.  Surprisingly, I received many compliments on the skirt.  I was wondering if people were just signifying though—complimenting the shortness and not the style.  Ha.

I’m wearing a size M.

Hey and Happy New Year! I just wanted to comment on this look. I really love the skirt and the length. If it had have been me I would have second guessed it though being that it was not lined. I am in search for one with the same length with a little more flow to it for a date night.
