Salvaged eBay Dress Purchase

Ok. I rarely purchase clothes on eBay because I am obsessed with trying items on before buying them. Still, I took a chance bid and actually won this festive black and red plaid belted dress. With chic details like a square neckline, perfect cap sleeves, and a standout print, the dress is a winner. The straight cut of the dress, however, made it impossible to pull over my hips. Darn.

Luckily, I recently met my new favorite tailor—Julia of Adonai Custom Tailoring & Alterations in Lexington. She took one look at the dress and assured me that she could salvage my spoiled eBay buy. And, she did for only $8!

Today, the plaid dress is worn with a black leather belt. Black tights and t-strap pumps complete the work look.

Dress—Banana Republic via eBay
Tights—Merona for Target
Belt—Dooney & Bourke via Apres Vous
Shoes—Taharia via Marshalls
Necklace—Lane Bryant

A good tailor can work wonders! I thought of you the other day when I saw the new “Best Dressed Reader” spot on Glamour’s Slaves to Fashion (http://www.glamour.com/fashion/blogs/slaves-to-fashion/). You send them a pic of you in your favorite fall/winter outfit (for whatever occasion) and if they choose you, you appear in their blog and they’ll link to yours. Could be great exposure for the blog, and as no one has better style than you…go for it!
